Sarah Cheiky is a formal licensed massage therapist by the Ohio State Medical Board in 2003. After receiving National Certification from the NCBTMB - National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodyworkers - Sarah now provides continuing education courses to practitioners and Thai yoga massage aspiring teachers. Through this process, Sarah says,“We have the option to make very real changes everyday with life.” She has gained understanding of how to affect change from her experiences with fitness, diet, massage, yoga and meditation. She also believes that, “We benefit most when we are willing to expand our awareness, and understand that absolutely everything put forth or received, effects every universal aspect; be it body, energy, or citta (mind-heart).”
Elizabeth Grepp, CYT, RYT, Reiki
Elizabeth is a native Clevelander who fell passionately in love with yoga while living in Costa Rica in 2006. She decided to deepen her practice by taking the yoga teacher training plunge in 2010 studying Jivasara (a loving combination of Jivamukti and Anusara yoga) under Marni Task, local yoga legend. She focuses on Vinyasa yoga with influences from Ashtanga, Anusara, Baptiste, Jivamukti and a pinch of Kundalini.
She is also a certified practitioner of Reiki, energy healing that helps to relax and purify both the mind and body. She firmly believes in the healing power of yoga, meditation and a vegetarian diet. Bringing the yogic lifestyle to her classes, she encourages students to take the yoga "off the mat" and out into the world! Jessica Reddick 200hr CYT, Thai Massage Practitioner
Jessica was born and raised in Nebraska and has lived in Ohio for 6 years. She made the decision 2 1/2 years ago to take her career path in the same direction as her yoga path. Prior to that her education and employment were in the human services field. Living and sharing yoga with others is very important to Jessica, which led her to complete a 200 hour yoga teacher training program. She is also a certified Thai massage practicioner and has a strong interest in traditional medicine and home remedies.
Ginny Walters 500hr CYT
I have been guiding people into the practice of yoga since 1997. I love teaching beginners and Ashtanga. In early 2010 I completed the Yoga Alliance 500 hour training with Yoga on High in Columbus. The Ashtanga practice is my home practice. I love the clarity it brings to my life. My practice is the only sure thing; everything else is out of my control. My classes will build strength where you are weak and flexibility where you are tight. I value focusing on the integrity of each posture and my hands-on adjustments help you feel each posture more fully. My passion is watching my students expand their personal vision. I see their surprise in the ability to master a posture step by step. First we must believe in ourselves even through the (seemingly) impossible, then all will fall into place. We can only begin where we are and where we are is just fine for beginning.
In the summer I practice and teach outside. My Thursday 6AM class moves to a local deck on the beach. I hold a bi-monthly kayak and yoga class with Kayak 41 North. We paddle to practice yoga on a hill overlooking Lake Erie. Each winter I lead a yoga retreat/experience in Costa Rica. Check out these websites for more info: ashtangacostarica.com, elniditoguesthouse.com and kayak41north.com. Mary Bell, LMT, Thai Practitioner, 200hr YTT
Mary Bell is a huge fan of fun, bliss and love! Being a yoga practitioner for fourteen years, she finally decided to teach it and took Shakthi Parahasivam’s 240 hour YTT in mid 2012. Being a licensed massage therapist for over five years and also a Thai massage practitioner, Mary’s seen first hand how the disconnect between mind and body can manifest itself into pain and tension. Yoga is Union, it requires awareness of what’s happening inside and outside of one’s being. With that awareness healing and the divine journey begin! Mary believes the most important yoga is done outside the classroom. Everything done on the mat is preparation so that everyday problems can be faced with calmness, strength and compassion. “I am honored by everyone that chooses to make my class a stop along their path to enlightenment or on their way home from work! Let’s play, laugh, work hard and sweat a bit together while we make ourselves and the world a little happier.” Kandi Genis, CYT Kandi Genis has been practicing yoga since 2007 when she took her first hot power yoga class at Amazing yoga in Pittsburgh PA. Having resisted any kind of exercise for years, she was especially challenged by such an intense physical practice but was so nurtured by her teachers that gradually she was able to progress from spending 90% of a class in child's pose (rest) to only 10%. Through yoga, she discovered the power of a practice that unites the mind, body and breath. In order to deepen her own understanding and share this power with other, she completed her 200hr Hatha yoga teacher training at Leela Mata Peaceful Valley Ashram with Darshanie Radha Sukhu. Her classes are rooted in the classical Hatha yoga of the Sivananda tradition and inspired by the variety of her own yoga experiences and nurturing teachers. In her classes, she offers a mix of flowing movements, held postures and relaxation accompanied by music. Students are encouraged to explore their own physical, mental and emotional needs, taking what they need from each class. Ed Ciolek, CYT Our pipe-fitter gone yoga, Ed has taken his initial 200 hour CYT with Karma Yoga and currently in additional 500hour Try For Life Therapy, Reiki and Yoga Training with Judy Barr at Heartlight Yoga in Rocky River and will complete in early 2012. He is super passionate about his practice and a great example to our real men who need yoga. "I never knew this stuff would be so great!" we have heard Ed say over the years. Regularly provides yoga to the elderly in nursing homes. He also provides seated chair yoga and privates for beginners as well as those wanting a real powerful workout. He too will be a Thai Student in the latter of the summer. Wendy Faber, LMT I am a believer of balance & lover of living.
