David Manuelle - Visual Artist

The city of Cleveland is my home. I grew up knowing the metro parks, the Art museum and the beautiful neighborhoods that make up the place I call my home. I recall my first visit to the Cleveland museum of Art, I was convinced that Cleveland was the center of the Universe! Now I no longer believe that I live at the center of the universe despite the fact that I hope to find a place for my art form in the center of the universe. I began working with papier mache sculpture in 2012 after working with Rafael A Valdivieso Troya building art for the Parade on the Cricle held at the annual University Cirlce event.. Lacking the official credentials of a formal art education I am the poster child for the unknown underground artist. I have worked for years experimenting with different art mediums including stained glass and plaster sculptures. Much of my art training has taken place working with other artists including Cleveland State professor Gene Kangas who is known for the large metal silhouette sculptures located in various parts  of the city including the large metal sculpture of a door located in front of the Science building on the campus of Cleveland State University.  I have participated in  Art shows including the 2016 Tri C WOW Now art exhibit, The 2012 Day of the Dead Festival  in addition to displaying work at Grumpy’s Café and The People’s Gallery located in Asheville North Carolina.

Currently I work with papier mache as I attempt to create lager organic shapes. I grew up a wild child of the woods so it is only natural that I see natural shapes of cliffs and flowing waves of water as guiding my vision of flowing shapes expressed in papier mache. Having spent much of my time exploring I still find myself looking at my world as a series of large patterns and shapes, a collection of different elements forming unique themes . I tend to work with shapes that flow in circles as I attempt to create movement in my work.

Often our days are filled with movement, thus my work represents the world in which we live. Currently I am working on sculptures representing my vision of a criminal’s heart. At birth are we all born with the same heart?  If we compared the heart of a criminal to the heart of a saint what would we discover? Has the heart of a criminal become a grotesque collection of misshaped valves, a heart filled with holes, a heart void of compassion, the heart of a criminal? As I continue my quest to create I ask you where my ideas will take me tomorrow.

John Troxell - Muralist and Realist Painter

Cleveland artist, John Troxell, contemporary American muralist and Realist painter, showed artistic talent at an early age. He attended adult summer classes at The Cleveland Institute of Art at age 11, then went on to study drawing and painting at Case Western Reserve University under Anita Rogoff (1981); and portrait painting at the Gage Academy in Seattle under Gary Fagin (1992.)

Influenced by American Realism and Photorealism, his work displays a focus on representation with deep interest in the understanding and practice of painting. His interest in the urban landscape reflects a vivid desire to represent the everyday world we live in, capturing the buildings, traffic and excitement that is Cleveland.

Troxell has completed over 50 murals throughout the United States. In 2008 he was the lead artist for “Pixelating Morgana” a 20x350 foot outdoor mural in the Slavic Village neighborhood of Cleveland, supervising a team of artists and volunteers in a nine week outdoor mural project that is currently the largest painted mural in the city.

Other well-known murals are featured at the Blue Canyon restaurant in Twinsburg, the Stone Oven in Cleveland Heights and the spectacular “Cowboy” mural outside the Urban Farmer Restaurant downtown.

MARGARET FRANCES
A Cleveland artist, born and raised. She studied painting for a year in Newport Rhode Island, but could not stand being away from Cleveland.

She decided to come home and study Painting at The Cleveland Institute of Art. There she explored everything from print, video, photography, and performance art. She recently worked on a short film with Director Bruce Checefsky, where she stars as the leading female role in, Witches Cradle, a lost film directed by the surrealist artist Maya Deren in 1943.

She is passionate about the art and yoga community here in Cleveland and looks forward to a long life helping these communities grow, as she too grows with them. Ground down so you can rise up!

Prayer Beads and Amulets

Picture
Prayer Beads are each designed for a specific purpose or intention. Gemstones are chosen so the natural energies of each piece work with you when you pray, meditate, or focus on achieving a goal.
Some examples of intentions where prayer beads can help: Health, Protection, Unconditional Love, Transformation. Not seeing just the right piece?  Ask about ordering custom-designed gifts!
Artist Bio: Alyssa Yeager is a Cleveland artist, musician, and board certified music therapist. She has been creating jewelry for over 15 years, and began designing this unique line of prayer beads because of her interest in holistic healing. While learning about the natural healing properties of various gemstones and the history of prayer beads used by many religions and cultures, she began creating pieces meant to aid people in achieving their personal goals. Prayer beads can be custom-designed to complement the intentions of you and your loved ones.
